Usage of Industrial Computed Tomography for Evaluation of Custom-Made Implants

چکیده
Development of additive technologies and biocompatible materials facilitated their use in the custom-made implants manufacture. Verification of custommade implants manufactured using the additive manufacturing technologies is the key task to be fulfilled prior to the clinical application of an implant. It consists of parameters verification within individual steps, from a software design, through manufacturing, surface finishing, up to finalization of a medical product. The article presents possible uses of a 3D printing and the computed tomography (Metrotom 1500, Carl Zeiss, Germany) for the verification of selected parameters of customized implants manufactured using the Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS) technology with the EOSINTM280 equipment (EOS GmbH, Germany) from the biocompatible titanium alloy Ti-6Al-4V (Grade 5). The article describes the possibilities of the computed tomography use in the verification of implant shapes and external dimensions, as well as internal structure. The internal structure means the implant porosity assessment. R. Hudák (B) · J. Živčák · T. Evaluation of Metal Artifact Reduction software in Computed Tomography
Introduction: The image quality of computed tomography (CT) can be seriously lowered by metal implants of patients. These implants are known to exert a significant impact on diagnostic accuracy due to artifacts. The current study aimed to assess the usefulness of Metal Artifact Reduction (MAR) software in the reduction of metal artifacts, in comparison to iterative rec...
متن کاملEffect of Slice Thickness on the Accuracy of Linear Measurements Made on Cone Beam Computed Tomography Images (InVitro
Objective: Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) is applied for the imaging of the maxillofacial and dental structures, particularly for surgical treatments and dental implants. The aim of this study was to assess the effect of slice thickness on the accuracy of CBCT linear measurements. Methods: In this diagnostic accuracy study, forty-two titanium pins with the same dimensions were inserted...
متن کاملEvaluation the Accuracy of Lineartomography in Determining the Quantity of Maxillary Bone
Background & Aims: The accuracy of dental implants has increased in recent years. An accurate radiography from the region is needed for precise treatment planning in implants and for determining prognosis of treatment. Because this technique can demonstrate the buccolingual aspect, and due to its lower radiation dose, lower cost, and availability, in comparison with computed tomography, lineart...

متن کامل7.01.144 Patient-Specific Cutting Guides and Custom Knee Implants
Custom knee implants and patient-specific instrumentation (PSI) have been developed as alternatives to off-theshelf implants and conventional cutting guides for joint arthroplasty. Custom implants and patient-specific cutting guides are constructed with the aid of preoperative 3-dimensional computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans and proprietary planning software. The...
